Use files and media when you want Atoms to work with content you already have or create files you can download. In Chat, you can upload documents, spreadsheets, images, folders, and other supported file types for Atoms to read and use.

Most file-related tasks start in Chat.

  • Use File to browse the files and folders in your current project.
  • After the project has a version, the project owner can use Overview → Assets → Manage to view images, videos, audio, and music created by Atoms. Assets is unavailable for mobile and video project types; do not publish or deploy a project solely to reveal it.

Add files to Chat

  1. Select + beside the message box, then select Attachments.
  2. Select Upload Files or Upload Folder.
  3. Choose the file or folder from your device.
  4. Wait for the upload to finish. Select the attachment if you want to preview it, or select Remove if you added the wrong item.
  5. Write your request and send the message.

You can also drag files into the upload area or paste an image from your clipboard. If you close an attachment while it is still uploading, Atoms cancels the upload.

A ZIP file is uploaded as a single file. Atoms does not automatically unpack it or restore a project from it. If you want the Agent to work with the individual files, upload the folder or unpack the ZIP on your device first.

Open Attachments to upload files or a folder.

Open Attachments to upload files or a folder.

Use a file in your message

When an attachment appears beside your message, the file will be sent with that message. You do not need to use # unless you want to call out the file by name. For example:

  • “Summarize this report and list the main decisions.”
  • “Use this image and spreadsheet when creating the campaign page.”

You can also select an attachment by typing #:

  1. Add the file to the current message and wait for the upload to finish.
  2. Type #, then select Upload.
  3. Search for the file by name if needed, then select it.
  4. Finish your request and send the message.

The Upload list only shows files already added to the message you are writing. It does not search every file in your project or previous Chats.

To reuse a file from an earlier message or an Atoms result, return to that item and select Reference. For generated media in Assets, select Reference in chat.

Adding or referencing a file gives the Agent access to it for your request. It does not publish the file or make it public.

Find a file later

Find a project file

  1. Open File in the toolbar of your project.
  2. Use the file path at the top of the page to move between folders.
  3. Select a folder name to open it.

The file list shows each item’s name, size, and last update time. You can also use Upload file or Upload folder to add an item to the folder you are viewing.

Search by file name in Editor

File does not currently include file-name search. If you know all or part of the name but not the folder, use Search in Editor. Results may be incomplete when the project contains more than 2,000 files or folders are deeper than 8 levels. If a result is missing, browse in File or verify the path directly:

  1. Open the project on desktop and select Editor.
  2. Enter all or part of the file name in the Search field above the file tree.
  3. Select the matching file to open it.

Files in another project do not appear automatically, so open that project first.

Use File to browse folders, upload items, and find project files.

The File view is designed for desktop. On mobile, select Open on desktop and continue from a supported desktop browser.

Find generated media

The project owner can open OverviewAssets after the project has a version. Assets is unavailable for mobile and video project types. If it is not available, use Search in Editor or browse folders in File; do not publish or deploy a project solely to reveal it.

  1. Open Overview.
  2. Find Assets and select Manage.
  3. Use All, Video, Image, Audio, or Music to filter the list.
  4. Select an Asset to open it.

Select More actions for the options available for that asset. Depending on where it was created, you may see Reference in chat, Download, Rename, or Open in Editor. Open in Editor is not available for media created in a video project.

Use the Assets filters and More actions menu to manage generated media.

Preview a file

Uploaded files: Select a completed attachment in Chat. The preview shows the file name and type. If several files are attached, use the file strip or the left and right arrow keys to move between them.

Files created by Atoms: You can locate and preview files created by Atoms in Editor.

Generated media: The project owner can open Overview → Assets → Manage after the project has a version. This view is unavailable for mobile and video project types. If Assets is not available, find the media in Editor or File; do not publish or deploy solely to reveal it.

If Atoms cannot preview a folder or file, it shows Preview unavailable or explains that the file is not supported. Try opening it again. If it still does not open, download it and use a compatible app on your device.

See File types and limits for the formats that Atoms currently supports.

Download a file or folder

Download from File

  1. Open File and find the item.
  2. Select the download icon if it appears on the file or folder row. Download is only available when the current mode, path, and item permit it.
  3. Wait for the download to finish, then open your browser’s downloads list.

A folder downloads as a ZIP file. If no Download control appears, use Preview if available or contact the project owner or an administrator; follow any plan message shown on screen.

Select the download icon beside a file or folder in File.

Download generated media

After the project has a version, the project owner can open Overview → Assets → Manage, select More actions for the asset, then select Download when that action is available. Assets is unavailable for mobile and video project types. If Assets is not available, find the media in Editor or File and use the available Download option. If no download control appears, use Preview if available or contact the project owner or an administrator; follow any plan message shown on screen.

If Atoms shows Download Requires Upgrade, the current plan does not include that download. You can still use the available preview, or follow the upgrade option shown on screen.

Keep your files safe

Only people who can open the project can use its project files. Adding a file to Chat does not make it public.

Do not upload passwords, API keys, access tokens, or confidential information unless the file is required for the task and your organization allows it. If you need to keep an important result outside Atoms, download a copy and save it where your organization normally stores files.
