Understanding the Atoms Input Chat Area

What each control does before you start a new project

When you open Atoms, the large box in the center of the Home page is the starting point for a new request. You can type or use voice input, choose visible project and workflow options, add reference files, and open additional tools. No coding experience is required to begin.

1. Notice

Opens the product announcement panel shown in the current interface.

2. Agent avatars

Shows the AI team. Hovering can reveal an agent name and role.

3. Message box

Type your request. In Team Mode, @ can open the agent list; uploaded files can be referenced with #.

4. + menu

Opens additional tools, modes, and settings.

5. Web / App

Visible project-type choices. Select the label that best matches what you are starting.

6. Build menu

8. Send

The upward-arrow control submits the request.

9. Connect tools

Shortcut into integrations/connectors.

The + menu: optional tools and modes

Click the + control at the lower-left of the message box to open the additional options shown below. You can start a basic request without changing these options.

Feature

What it does

Team Mode

Use when you want several specialist agents available in the same workflow. Team Mode also enables direct @mentions of agents.

Attachments

Adds files, folders, images, or documents as reference material. Uploaded items can appear as # FileName in the input box.

Connectors

Connects Atoms with an external service you authorize. The available actions depend on the service and the permissions approved during connection.

Video

A Video option is visible in the current + menu; the screenshot shows Seedance 2.0. This page does not define plan availability or video-generation limits.

Deep Research

Starts a research-focused workflow with Iris and switches the request to Team Mode.

Race Mode

Runs the same request across multiple AI models so you can compare outputs. If the option is not shown in your account, check the current product rather than assuming availability.

Theme

Opens the visual theme presets shown in the current interface, including an option to create a new theme.

Before using Attachments, Connectors, or Voice Follow your organization’s rules for confidential, personal, or regulated information. For connectors, review the external service’s authorization screen before approving access. This guide does not define what a specific connector can read or change, and it does not make claims about voice recording, storage, or retention.

Race Mode

Race Mode sends the same request to multiple model configurations in parallel so you can compare the results. The captured menu shows three choices:

Option

What the captured menu shows

Turbo

Option shown in the captured menu. This guide does not interpret the cost wording or provide a credit estimate.

Standard

The current menu labels this “Balanced performance.”

Custom

The current menu labels this “Manual model selection.”

Theme: choose a visual preset

The Theme menu shows named visual presets with small palette previews. In the supplied screenshot, the list includes Zen, Terracotta & Clay, Notion, Material You, Golden Honey, Nordic Moss & Stone, White Beach, and additional choices further down the list.

This guide treats Theme as a visible visual-style control only. It does not claim that every theme changes the same design properties or that the available preset list will remain unchanged.

Build, Goal, Web/App, Voice, and Send

These controls sit directly on the message box and determine the visible starting choices before you submit a request.

The Build dropdown with Build and Goal options.

Figure 5. The Build dropdown currently shows Build and Goal.

Build is labeled “General building mode.” Goal is labeled “Mike plans and assigns the build.” Choose Web or App according to the project you are starting; exact internal routing is outside the scope of this page.

Voice input and Send

The voice-input button and upward-arrow Send control.

Figure 6. The blue sound-wave control is voice input; the upward arrow is Send.

Voice input lets you speak instead of typing. When you are ready to submit, use the upward-arrow Send control. The supplied screenshots do not establish how voice data is stored or retained, so this guide makes no statement about those topics.

Agent avatars: who is available to help

The row of avatars represents Atoms’ specialist AI team. In the supplied screenshot, hovering over the first avatar identifies Mike as Team Leader. The current roles are summarized below.

Hovering over Mike’s avatar shows his Team Leader role.

Figure 7. Hovering over an avatar can show the agent name and role.

In Team Mode, typing @ in the message box can open the agent list so you can select one or more agents directly. If you do not see the agent list, confirm that Team Mode is enabled.

Notice: product and model announcements

The Notice banner above the avatars opens a larger panel with current product and model announcements and a Start building button.

Announcement content changes over time. Treat the current in-product banner and panel as the source of truth for what is being announced at that moment.

A complete first-use example

This example shows the control sequence only; it is not a prompting guide.

  1. On the Home screen, choose App because this example is an app-style project.
  2. Optional: click + > Attachments and add a reference image or document. Confirm that the uploaded item appears in the input box.
  3. Leave Team Mode off for a simple first build, or turn it on if you want multiple specialist agents available.
  4. Leave the Build menu on Build (“General building mode”).
  5. Enter a simple request, such as: Create a basic event planner with a calendar and task list.
  6. Press the upward-arrow Send control.

Expected result Your request is submitted into the selected Atoms workflow. The exact next screen and generated output can vary by feature, account, and product version. As a basic check, confirm that the request appears in the project chat and that Atoms begins responding. If you attached a file, verify that the file reference is present before relying on it.

If something does not work

Problem

What to try

I type @ but no agent list appears

Enable Team Mode, then type @ again. Agent @mentions are available in Team Mode.

My uploaded file is not being used

Confirm the file is uploaded and referenced as # FileName. If needed, explicitly tell the agent to inspect the uploaded file before making changes.

A connector cannot find or update an item

Check that the integration is connected, the connected account can access the item, your request identifies the right item, and the requested action is supported.

The agent repeats an action without making progress

Use Stop, then restate the request and identify the specific problem.

A control in this guide is missing or looks different

Use the current interface. If it differs from this guide, escalate to the product owner or Support.
