Payments, invoices, and refunds

Pay for Atoms, download invoices, manage your payment method, and understand when a refund is possible.

Atoms processes payments through Stripe. This guide covers which payment methods are accepted, where to find your billing information and invoices, how to change or remove a payment method, and the conditions under which a refund can be granted.

To compare plans or change which one you are on, see Plans and pricing. To understand how credits are allocated and when they expire, see Credits.

Payment methods

Atoms accepts the following at checkout:

  • Credit and debit cards — Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover, JCB, and UnionPay.
  • Digital wallets — Alipay and Amazon Pay.

PayPal and Western Union are not supported.

Note: Alipay works for payments up to $400. Above that, it is unavailable, and you will need to use a card or Amazon Pay.

Find your plan and billing information

You can see your current plan, remaining credits, and billing history in two places:

  • Settings → Plans and credits
  • Pricing → Payment

Settings → Plans and credits also shows your payment history, listing each payment with its date, amount, credits, method, status, and any refund. For payment methods, invoices, and subscription history, select Manage Billing to open the Stripe customer portal.

Download an invoice

Official VAT and tax invoices come from the Stripe customer portal rather than from Atoms directly.

  1. Go to Settings → Plans and credits.
  2. Select Manage Billing to open the Stripe customer portal.
  3. Find the payment you need in your billing history.
  4. Select it and download the invoice.

Expected result: you have a professional invoice suitable for expense claims or accounting.

From the same portal you can also update your payment details and review your subscription history.

Note: Manage Billing is available to the workspace owner only. You can also reach the portal directly at [billing.stripe.com], using the email address the subscription is billed to. Stripe emails a verification link to that address before letting you in.

Remove a payment method

You cannot remove your payment method while a paid plan is active. Downgrade first.

  1. Downgrade your plan to Free under Settings → Plans and credits.
  2. Wait until your status shows the Free plan. A downgrade takes effect on the first day after your current billing cycle ends, so this is not immediate.
  3. Select Manage Billing to open the Stripe customer portal.
  4. Under Payment Methods, select Delete.

Note: If Delete is greyed out, the downgrade has not completed yet. Your paid plan runs to the end of the billing cycle you have already paid for.

Note: Both steps here need the workspace owner. Only the owner can change the plan, and Manage Billing is available to the owner only. If you are working in someone else's workspace, ask them to remove the payment method — it is stored against the workspace, not against you.

Automatic renewal

Pro and Max plans renew automatically at the end of your selected billing period, using the payment method on file — monthly for a monthly plan, yearly for an annual one. Renewal continues unless you downgrade before the next period begins.

Cancelling means downgrading to the Free plan. The downgrade takes effect on the first day after your current period ends, and you keep your paid benefits until then.

Important: Cancel before the new billing period starts. Once a period begins, the payment is processed and the cancellation applies to the period after that.

Refunds

Atoms is a digital service, and its costs — model API usage and server time — are incurred as soon as you start using it. In principle, once service delivery begins, subscription fees are non-refundable.

There are no refunds for partial usage periods, for gifted credits, or for downgrading a plan.

An annual plan can be cancelled ahead of time for the next period, but not part-way through the current one. Once the annual billing period begins, the full year is non-refundable, whether you have used one month of it or eleven. You can cancel at any point during the year, but your plan then ends when the period ends, not immediately, and no part of the fee is returned.

When you may be eligible

If you believe you subscribed in error, you may qualify for a refund only if you meet both of the following conditions.

  1. You apply within the refund window.

Where you are

Window

EU, UK, or Turkey

14 days from the time of charge, or from when your credits begin to be consumed — whichever comes first

Everywhere else

24 hours from the time of charge, or from when your credits begin to be consumed — whichever comes first

  1. You have not used the service. Atoms verifies this against system logs. If any service call has been recorded against your account within the window, you will not qualify.
  2. Statutory rights. Depending on where you live, you may separately be entitled to a statutory right of withdrawal — under the EU Consumer Rights Directive, for example. Those rights apply subject to strict legal preconditions. The published Refund Policy sets out the full position, and it is the authority if anything here is unclear.

If the product did not work

Separately from the above, if a bug in the product materially affects you, you have the right to request a refund. You will need to provide evidence of the bug and of the resulting loss. Atoms will address the issue and provide reasonable compensation.

Apply for a refund

You can apply either way:

  • Email [[email protected]] with your order information — account number, order number, purchase date, amount, and invoice — your reason for the request, and your contact details.
  • Through support: select your avatar → Help Center → the chat icon in the bottom-right corner. Provide your registered account email, a screenshot of your invoice, and proof of payment, and say whether you want a cash refund or credit compensation.

How long it takes

  • Support responds to a refund request raised through the chat within 24 hours.
  • Refund requests are reviewed within five business days.
  • If approved, Stripe returns the money to your original payment account within a further five to ten business days.

Credit compensation

If something goes wrong while you are building and the problem is not resolved, Atoms may in some cases offer compensation as credits. Credits cannot be exchanged for cash.

Compensation is not provided for:

  • AI output quality, unsatisfactory results, or problems caused by your own prompts or settings.
  • Your local environment, scheduled platform maintenance, rate limits, or third-party service disruptions.

To request it, contact support with a clear description of the problem and relevant screenshots. Multiple requests about the same issue are reviewed together.

If a payment fails

A payment can fail after you have started it, most often because your bank declined it or the transaction timed out. The two are not the same:

  • A decline is final. Nothing is charged and no credits are added.
  • A timeout can leave the outcome unknown. The charge may still be pending with your bank even though Atoms shows nothing yet.

To check what happened, review the Stripe checkout result, look for a failed-transaction email, and open Settings → Plans and credits → Manage Billing to see your transaction history. If your bank declined the payment, contact them. Once the payment goes through, your credits are added automatically.

Important: Do not start a second payment while the first is pending or its outcome is unclear. Check your transaction history and your bank statement first, and contact support if you still cannot tell. A second attempt is a separate charge, not a retry of the first.

For the full diagnostic, see Missing credits after payment.

If Atoms ends your subscription

Two cases are worth knowing about:

  • If Atoms terminates your subscription with notice, you receive a pro rata refund of the fees you paid for the remaining portion of the subscription. Atoms give at least 30 days' written notice.
  • If your access is terminated for a material breach of the Terms of Service, you are not entitled to a refund.

Cloud & AI wallet payments

Top-ups for the Cloud & AI wallet are separate from your plan, and so are their receipts.

  • Auto top-up is available on Pro and Max only, and receipts for automatic top-ups are emailed to you.
  • The wallet has its own Invoice control, alongside its transaction list.
  • Wallet invoices are only available for recent history. If you need one from further back, contact support.

See Cloud and AI wallet for top-ups, balance alerts, and spending limits.
