Upgrade, downgrade, cancel, or move from monthly to annual billing, with a clear view of when each change takes effect and what to check afterward.
Manage your plan
Open Settings > Plans and credits to see your current plan, credit balance, and billing history. You can also make plan changes from Pricing > Payment.
Permission prerequisite
Plan changes and Manage Billing require the workspace owner, an admin, or a member with billing-management permission. If you do not have that access, ask the workspace owner or billing administrator to make the change; you may still be able to view your plan, credits, and billing history, but a missing control is not a reason to retry a payment.
Before you make a change
Paid plans renew automatically unless you change or cancel before the next billing cycle starts. Monthly plans renew on their monthly schedule; annual plans run through the annual term. If you want to avoid the next renewal charge, make the change before the new billing cycle begins.
Moving to a lower plan does not automatically refund the unused part of your current term. Atoms only offers refunds in limited cases, so check the refund rules before assuming a plan change will reverse a charge.
What happens when you change your plan
Change | When it starts | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
Upgrade a monthly plan | Right away | Your renewal date stays the same. You pay the prorated price difference for the rest of the current cycle. |
Downgrade a monthly plan | Next billing cycle | You keep the current plan until the paid month ends. A downgrade does not create an automatic prorated refund. Unused monthly paid credits are reset and do not carry over when the downgrade takes effect. |
Monthly to annual | Right away | The annual plan starts immediately. Annual credits are released in monthly portions. |
Annual to monthly or Free | End of annual term | Your annual benefits stay active until the current annual cycle finishes. |
Cancel to Free | End of paid term | Paid features stay active until the term ends, then the account moves to Free and unused paid subscription credits expire. |
Upgrade your plan
Use an upgrade when you need a higher plan or a larger monthly credit tier.
- Go to Settings > Plans and credits, or open Pricing > Payment.
- Choose the higher Pro or Max plan, or the larger credit tier you want.
- Review the price and confirm payment.
The upgrade starts as soon as payment succeeds. For a monthly plan, your renewal date does not move; Atoms charges only the prorated price difference for the rest of the current billing period.
Credits left from a mid-cycle monthly upgrade can roll into the next billing cycle once. They do not keep stacking from month to month.
After you upgrade: check Settings > Plans and credits. The new plan should be active right away after payment succeeds, and the updated credit balance should be visible there. If the payment succeeded but the plan or credits still look unchanged, check Plans and credits. If the issue continues, get support.
Downgrade your plan
A downgrade is scheduled for later, so you keep the plan you already paid for until the current term ends.
- Open Settings > Plans and credits or Pricing > Payment.
- Choose the lower plan or credit tier you want.
- Confirm the change.
On monthly billing, the lower plan begins after the current monthly cycle ends. Your current plan and its features stay available until then. The downgrade itself does not create a prorated refund.
If you are on an annual plan and move to monthly billing or Free, the change waits until the current annual term ends. Your annual benefits remain available for the rest of that term.
If the new plan has less storage, Atoms says it will warn you so you can export, back up, or remove project files before the lower limit affects normal use.
After you downgrade: do not expect the account to switch immediately. A successful downgrade means your current plan remains active through the paid term and the lower plan starts when that term ends. Unused monthly paid credits are reset and do not carry over when the downgrade takes effect. If storage will be lower, finish any backup or cleanup before that date.
Switch from monthly to annual billing
Annual billing is available for Pro and Max plans.
- Open Settings > Plans and credits or Pricing > Payment.
- Choose annual or yearly billing for your Pro or Max plan, review the price, and confirm the change.
The move from monthly to annual billing takes effect immediately. Atoms currently lists a 21% annual discount on the first credit tier and 18% on non-first tiers compared with paying month by month for a full year.
Annual credits are split into 12 equal monthly installments rather than being delivered all at once. Unused credits can roll over within the same billing year, up to the annual credit limit for your plan. When you move from monthly to annual, unused monthly credits can roll with the annual plan for up to 12 months. At annual renewal, unused credits from the previous annual cycle may also carry forward, up to the annual credit limit.
Switching back to monthly billing or Free later does not take effect immediately; it waits until the annual term ends. Annual charges are still subject to Atoms’ refund rules described below rather than an automatic refund when you switch plans.
After you switch: the annual plan should be active immediately. Your subscription credits should continue arriving in monthly portions, so do not expect the full year of credits to appear at once.
Cancel your paid subscription
Atoms handles cancellation by moving the account to the Free plan.
- Go to Settings > Plans and credits or Pricing > Payment.
- Choose the Free plan.
- Confirm the downgrade before your next renewal if you want to avoid another renewal charge.
Your paid plan stays active through the end of the billing period you already paid for. After that, the account moves to Free.
Unused subscription credits and rolled-over paid subscription credits expire when the paid billing period ends. If you still have paid credits you want to use, use them before the cancellation takes effect.
After you cancel: paid access should remain available until the end of the current term, then the account should show Free. If a new renewal charge appears after you expected the cancellation to take effect, check your billing history and the refund guidance below.
Credits and storage after a plan change
• Monthly upgrades: unused upgrade credits can roll into one additional billing cycle, but they do not accumulate indefinitely.
• Annual plans: credits are released in 12 monthly installments and can roll within the annual billing year up to your annual credit limit. Monthly credits carried into an annual plan can remain available for up to 12 months.
• Cancellation to Free: unused and rolled-over paid subscription credits expire when the paid term ends.
• Storage: if a plan change lowers your storage allowance, Atoms says it will warn you before the lower limit affects normal use. Check the Pricing page for the current storage allowance before changing plans.
Billing information and invoices
You can review your active plan, remaining credits, and billing history from Settings > Plans and credits or Pricing > Payment. For payment methods, billing details, subscription history, and downloadable invoices, open Manage Billing; Atoms sends you to the Stripe customer portal.
Refunds and unexpected charges
Subscription payments are generally not refundable once the service has been used, but Atoms’ Terms describe limited exceptions. For an unused subscription, users in the EU, UK, or Turkey may request a refund within 14 days of the charge; users elsewhere have a 24-hour window. In both cases, the request must also be made before the service is actually used or credits begin to be consumed, whichever happens first. Atoms also says a qualifying product defect that materially affects your use may be reviewed for a refund or other compensation.
To request a refund, email [email protected], the policy-designated channel, and provide your registered account email, invoice or payment screenshot, proof of payment, and a short explanation of what happened. A downgrade or cancellation by itself is not a refund request.
If something doesn’t look right
The payment did not go through. Check the final status in checkout, look for a payment email, and review your transaction history. A bank decline or checkout timeout can leave the payment incomplete. If the payment failed, contact your issuing bank and retry after the issue is cleared.
The payment succeeded, but the plan or credits look unchanged. Check Settings > Plans and credits and your transaction history. If the payment is successful but the change is still missing, contact Atoms Support and include your account email, a payment or receipt screenshot, and a screenshot of the plan page.
You cannot find the upgrade, downgrade, or annual-billing control. These controls require the workspace owner, an admin, or billing-management permission. Ask the workspace owner or billing administrator to make the change. If you have that access, try the other official entry point: Settings > Plans and credits or Pricing > Payment. Contact support only if the control is still missing after your permission is confirmed; do not attempt another payment.
You see a charge you were not expecting. Check the renewal date and billing history first. If a new billing cycle started before the cancellation was completed, the renewal may already have been processed. If you believe the charge qualifies for a refund, email [email protected] within the applicable refund window and before using the new credits, and include your account email, payment or invoice details, and a short explanation.
You did not receive a confirmation. Check the checkout status, your email, and billing history before trying the payment again. This helps you confirm whether the first transaction actually completed.
FAQ
How do I cancel my subscription?
To cancel your paid subscription:
- Go to Settings > Plans & Credits in your Atoms dashboard.
- Select the Free plan option and click Downgrade to confirm.
Important:
- Complete this within your current billing cycle.
- The downgrade will not take effect immediately — you'll retain access to current plan features until the end of the billing cycle.
For more details, see Cancel your paid subscription above.
I'm trying to upgrade but getting an error. What's wrong?
- Record the exact error before retrying and confirm that you are in the intended account and workspace.
- Open Settings → Plans & Credits and check the current plan, target plan, billing status, and whether a downgrade is already scheduled.
- If a downgrade is pending, cancel that scheduled change and retry the upgrade once.
- If there is no pending downgrade, verify that you have billing permission and review any payment-method, region, seat, or target-plan message shown in checkout.
Do not submit repeated payments. If the error continues, contact Support with the account and workspace, current and target plan, exact error, time and timezone, and any Order ID. Redact full card and bank details.
My payment went through but my credits or plan didn't update. What happened?
- Do not make another payment.
- Confirm that the transaction is completed rather than pending, reversed, or failed.
- Verify that you are signed in to the account and workspace associated with the receipt, then reopen Settings → Plans & Credits.
- Record the Order ID, transaction date, amount and currency, purchased plan, and account email.
If the plan or credits still do not appear, contact Support with those details and a redacted receipt. Never send a full card number, bank-account number, security code, password, or one-time code.
