Ads Agent
Use Adrian, the Ads Specialist in Atoms, to plan, create, and analyze Google Search campaigns for your published project. Adrian can research keywords, create draft ads, and prepare a campaign plan. After the workspace owner reviews the expected costs and approves the plan, Adrian can create the campaign.
New campaigns are created in a paused state, so you can decide when to start running them.
Advertising costs accrue in the selected Google Ads client account. Google bills that account through its configured payment method, payment profile, or applicable manager-account invoicing setup. Google controls ad review, delivery, pricing, and campaign performance, and Atoms cannot guarantee these results.
How the Ads Agent works
The Ads Agent workflow has four main stages:
- Start Adrian and describe the campaign. Switch to Team Mode, then open Marketing → Google Ads or select Adrian under Group Members in Chat. His role is Ads Specialist.
- Review the two approval checkpoints. Read the real-cost warning, then check the campaign plan, budget, targeting, keywords, ad copy, and destination before confirming it.
- Create and verify the paused campaign. Adrian creates a Google Search campaign in a paused state. Check it in Atoms and Google Ads before deciding whether to enable it.
- Monitor and manage the campaign. Use the Google Ads dashboard to review reported performance, ask Adrian for an analysis, review optimization recommendations, check conversion tracking, and deliberately pause or resume the campaign.
Adrian helps with campaign work, but does not approve spending on your behalf, guarantee Google’s approval, or guarantee impressions, clicks, conversions, revenue, or return on advertising spend.
Before you start
Before using Adrian, make sure that:
- You are working on desktop with a supported Atoms web project.
- To see Adrian under Group Members, switch to Team Mode and use a supported shadcn-based web template or enable Atoms Cloud for the project.
- The project is published and has a public landing-page URL that visitors can open.
- The workspace owner is available to connect Google Ads and complete the campaign approvals.
- You can access the intended Google Ads account with permission to manage campaigns. Google Ads Standard or Admin access can edit campaigns; Read-only and Billing access cannot. See Google’s Google Ads access-level guidance.
- The Google Ads account is ready to advertise and you have authority to approve the campaign budget.
- You know the campaign goal, intended searchers and search intent, target location, ad-copy language, landing page, average daily budget, and any claims or wording that must be included or avoided.
- Any current Agent task has finished before you start Adrian.
A custom domain is strongly recommended because it gives the campaign a stable, branded destination, but the current flow does not require one.
Google Ads spend and Atoms usage are separate. Advertising costs accrue in the selected Google Ads client account. Using Adrian in Team Mode also uses Atoms credits.
Never paste passwords, verification codes, payment information, API keys, customer lists, or unnecessary personal or sensitive information into Chat.
For more information about Team Mode, see the Mode Switching Guide.
Start a task with Adrian
Start from Marketing
- Open the published project and select Overview.
- Find the Marketing section and open Google Ads.
- Select Create Ads. This opens the Google Ads workspace; it does not start an Adrian task by itself.
- If the workspace shows Connect your Google Ads account for advertising, follow Connect Google Ads before continuing.
- Switch the project to Team Mode. When the connected workspace shows Adrian will create ads for you, select Create ads.
- Atoms immediately sends Create ads for my project in Chat. If the project is not in Team Mode, Atoms instead asks you to switch modes and sends nothing. Follow the conversation and provide the campaign details Adrian requests.
If the Google Ads card shows Pending, Atoms has not linked a campaign to the project yet. This does not mean that Adrian is already working, and it is different from Google Ads using “Pending” for a future campaign start date. If the card shows Open Dashboard, it opens the existing Google Ads workspace.
Start Adrian from the connected Google Ads workspace
Start Adrian from Chat
You can also give Adrian a complete brief before the task starts:
- Open the project you want to advertise.
- In the bottom-left corner of the Chat panel, select + and turn on Team Mode.
- Type @ and, under Group Members, select Adrian. His role is Ads Specialist.
- Add the campaign requirements described below.
- Review the message, then send it.
If Adrian does not appear, make sure Team Mode is on and the project uses a supported shadcn-based web template or has Atoms Cloud enabled. Reopen or refresh the project, then check the @ menu again. Publishing is required for the Marketing entry and a usable landing page, but it is not what adds Adrian to the menu.
Select Adrian from Group Members in Team Mode
Connect the intended Google Ads account
If the Google Ads workspace already shows the intended account, continue to the campaign brief. Otherwise, the workspace owner should follow Connect Google Ads to authorize the correct Google identity, select the intended client account, and verify the connection.
The connected client account matters. Adrian creates and manages campaigns in that account, and Google Ads spend is charged there. Before continuing, confirm that the displayed account and client ID, when shown, are the ones you intend to use.
To change the account later, follow Switch the connected account safely. The switch confirmation preselects all active campaigns to be paused. Review the complete list and deselect any campaign that should remain active before continuing.
Give Adrian a clear campaign brief
Adrian can inspect the published project, but a clear brief prevents the Agent from guessing. Include the information below.
What to include | What to tell Adrian |
|---|---|
Campaign goal | Explain the action you want people to take, such as visiting a page, submitting a form, or making a purchase. |
Offer | Describe the product or service being advertised and what makes it useful to the intended audience. |
Audience | Describe the intended searchers, what they are trying to find, and any unrelated topics or keywords that should be avoided. |
Location and ad-copy language | State the countries or regions to target and the language Adrian should use in the ad copy. Do not assume this creates a separate Google Ads language-targeting setting. |
Landing page | Provide the exact published page that the ads should open. Confirm that it works and matches the offer. |
Daily budget | State the approved average daily budget and its currency. This is not a hard daily spending maximum, and not every Google Ads account uses US dollars. |
Timing or deadline context | State any deadline, event, or limited-offer dates Adrian should reflect in the copy. The current campaign plan does not show or approve a campaign schedule or start date. |
Facts and limits | List facts that must remain accurate and any claims, wording, competitors, locations, or topics Adrian must avoid. |
You do not need to explain how Google Ads should be configured technically. Focus on the business goal, audience, destination, budget, facts, and restrictions.
Provide the campaign goal, budget, and target regions
Review the real-cost warning
Before campaign creation, Adrian shows Before We Create Your Google Ads Campaign, Please Review the Following Information. Read the complete card before continuing.
The card explains that:
- the workflow can create a real Google Ads campaign;
- Google can charge for clicks or impressions; in this Search-campaign workflow, chargeable interactions are normally clicks;
- performance varies with market competition, ad quality, and targeting;
- new campaigns may need time before the data becomes meaningful; and
- a custom domain is strongly recommended.
Select I Understand only when you accept these conditions and want Adrian to continue preparing the campaign. Select Cancel to stop the current flow. Only the workspace owner can use these controls.
I Understand does not approve the final campaign plan, enable ads, or guarantee a particular cost.
Read the complete real-cost warning before continuing
Review and confirm the campaign plan
Adrian researches the project, market, keywords, and ad copy, then shows Please review and confirm the campaign plan. The plan is for review; its fields cannot be edited directly in the card.
Plan area | What to check |
|---|---|
My Analysis & Decisions | Check that Adrian understood the offer, audience, goal, and main campaign choices. |
Campaign Plan | Confirm the campaign name, target regions, target URL, average daily budget, bidding strategy, and the displayed two-week test-cost estimate. |
Keywords | Check that the searches are relevant and do not target unrelated or inappropriate intent. |
Ad Variations | Review every headline and description for accuracy, clarity, brand tone, policy risk, and unsupported claims. |
Sitelinks | When present, check every label and URL. The URLs are plain text in the card, so copy each one and open it separately to verify the destination. |
If anything is wrong, do not confirm the plan. Select Cancel to stop the current flow, tell Adrian exactly what to change, and review the regenerated plan.
Select Confirm only when the complete plan is correct and the budget is approved. Only the workspace owner can use the confirmation controls. Confirming permits Adrian to proceed with campaign creation; it does not mean that an ad is already approved by Google or serving.
Verify the paused campaign
After confirmation, Adrian checks the account connection, selected client account, publication state, and landing page before creating a Google Search campaign. New campaigns are created paused.
- Wait for Adrian’s campaign-creation task to finish.
- Read the final Chat message for any warning about the campaign, ad group, keywords, ads, sitelinks, tracking, or project binding.
- Open Marketing → Google Ads and confirm that the intended campaign appears.
- Select View and check the campaign name, status, destination, daily budget, and date range.
- Open the connected account in Google Ads and verify the same campaign, its keywords and ads, and any policy or setup warning.
Campaign creation has several parts. A paused campaign can exist even if a later component failed, so check Google Ads before starting another creation attempt.
Adrian may ask whether to enable the campaign or keep it paused. Keep it paused until the plan, landing page, account, budget, and tracking are ready. Enabling makes an otherwise eligible campaign able to serve and spend; it does not start Google’s review or guarantee delivery.
Google reviews ads and assets separately, including while the campaign is paused. An ad or asset can remain Under review or become Disapproved. Check Google Ads for the exact item and reason.
Verify the new campaign in Atoms before enabling it
Confirm the paused campaign and account status directly in Google Ads
Set up and check conversion tracking
Conversion tracking records an action that matters to the campaign, such as a completed form or purchase. A Search campaign can run without conversion tracking when its bidding strategy does not depend on conversions. Conversion-based bidding requires working conversion tracking to optimize correctly.
If you do not choose a custom conversion goal, check the Google Ads account after campaign creation. The current workflow may still create a default Page View conversion action, which does not mean that site tracking is complete.
If Adrian offers conversion tracking, confirm the exact user action to measure and whether it should have a value. Atoms may create a conversion action and request a site change from the Team. Check that an Alex task and completion message actually appear; the handoff is not complete until they do. Campaign setup can continue while the site change is pending.
Campaign Overview → Conversion Tracking can show the configured conversion actions or No conversion tracking configured. A separate warning banner in the main Google Ads workspace may show Check Status and, when available, AI Fix. These controls are not always displayed. Selecting AI Fix immediately sends the repair request in Chat without showing a preview.
After the site change is complete, publish or update the site and test the full conversion journey using harmless data. Check Status can detect whether a Google tag is present, but it does not prove that the intended event fires or records a conversion. Verify the result in the app and Google Ads. If no Alex task or completion message appears, ask Mike or Alex to verify the handoff.
Choose the conversion action Adrian should prepare
Use the Google Ads dashboard
Open Marketing → Google Ads to review the campaigns connected to the current project. The dashboard reports data from Google Ads; it is not a history of Adrian’s Chat tasks.
Dashboard area | What it shows or does |
|---|---|
Date range | Changes the period used for reported metrics. Choose the period you want before using Analyze. |
Overview | Shows reported cost, budget, traffic, conversion, and trend information for the selected period when available. |
Optimization Score | Shows the available optimization score and recommendation count for the connected account and project. |
Recommendations | Shows proposed changes grouped by category and risk level. Selecting Apply can change a real campaign. |
Campaigns | Lists each campaign’s Name, Status, Clicks, Cost, CTR, and available Actions. |
View | Opens Campaign Overview for the selected campaign. |
Analyze | Immediately sends Adrian a request to analyze the selected period. This action requires Team Mode. |
New campaigns may show no useful metrics at first. Check the date range, campaign status, Google review, billing, targeting, and the campaign directly in Google Ads before treating an empty dashboard as a failure.
Review recommendations and reported performance for the selected period
Review optimization recommendations
The dashboard can show an Optimization Score and Recommendations from Google Ads. These are proposed campaign changes, not Chat suggestions. Applying one can affect live targeting, keywords, bidding, budget, delivery, and spend.
- Expand Recommendations and choose All, Budget, Keywords, Bidding, Ads, Targeting, or Other.
- Check the campaign name, risk level, proposed change, any budget or bidding amount, and the expected impact shown.
- Select Apply only when you understand and want the change. Low- and medium-risk recommendations can apply immediately. High-risk recommendations open an additional confirmation with Confirm & Apply.
- After applying a recommendation, verify the campaign settings in Atoms and Google Ads.
Do not apply a recommendation only to increase the Optimization Score. Decide whether the change matches the campaign goal and approved budget.
Pause, enable, analyze, or delete a campaign
Campaign actions can affect real delivery and spend. Check the campaign name and connected account before confirming an action.
Action | Use it when | What happens |
|---|---|---|
Analyze | You want Adrian to review the selected campaign and date range. | Atoms immediately sends an analysis request in Chat. It does not change campaign settings by itself. |
Pause | The campaign should stop serving. | After confirmation, the campaign level is paused and stops serving new ads. Costs already accrued remain in Google Ads billing and reports. |
Activate or Enable | A paused campaign is ready to resume and the budget is approved. | After confirmation, the campaign level is enabled. It can serve and spend only when its ads, ad groups, keywords, budget, account, and policy status are also eligible. The campaign list uses Activate; Campaign Overview uses Enable. |
Delete | The campaign should be removed and never resumed. | Atoms removes the campaign in Google Ads. It cannot be resumed or edited, but its historical performance can remain visible in Google Ads. Use Pause instead when you may need the campaign later. |
The workspace owner is required to connect Google Ads and use the two campaign-approval cards. Later campaign actions also depend on the user’s Atoms workspace access and Google Ads permissions. Keep access limited to people who are authorized to change the advertising account.
Review the campaign before analyzing, enabling, or deleting it
Understand costs and campaign status
Google Ads spend. Costs accrue in the selected client account and Google bills its configured payment method, payment profile, or applicable manager-account invoicing setup. The average daily budget is not a guaranteed daily charge or a performance result. Actual spend can be higher or lower on an individual day within Google’s charging rules. See Google’s average daily budget guidance.
Atoms credits. Adrian’s Team Mode work uses Atoms credits separately from Google’s advertising charges.
Dashboard cost. Read cost together with the selected date range. Do not assume that a value shown for a longer period is today’s charge.
Budget changes. The campaign plan and dashboard do not provide an inline budget editor. Before campaign creation, ask Adrian to regenerate the plan with the correct amount. For an existing campaign, a request to Adrian can apply a budget change without showing another campaign-plan approval card. State the exact amount and currency before sending the request, then verify the new budget in Atoms and Google Ads.
Atoms and Google Ads use different status labels. The labels below summarize what Atoms detected; they are not a complete list of Google’s native campaign, ad, asset, or bidding statuses. Open Google Ads for the exact item, status, and reason. See Google’s campaign-status guidance.
Status | How to understand it |
|---|---|
Active | Atoms is treating the campaign as enabled and serving. Delivery still depends on Google’s review, eligibility, targeting, budget, and auction. |
Paused | Atoms is treating the campaign as not serving. Open Google Ads to check whether it is paused, ended, or affected by another condition. |
Under Review | Atoms detected review-related or no-serving signals. Check the individual ads and assets in Google Ads to confirm whether they are under review. |
Optimizing | This is an Atoms summary that can reflect recent activity or learning signals. It is not a universal Google campaign status. |
Limited | Atoms detected restricted delivery. Check Google Ads for the exact budget, policy, targeting, bidding, or account reason. |
Needs Attention | Atoms detected a condition that may require action. Open Google Ads for the full reason before changing the campaign. |
Delete | Atoms is reporting the campaign as removed. It cannot be enabled again, although historical performance can remain available in Google Ads. |
