Connect Google Ads
Connect Google Ads to your Atoms project so Adrian can create and manage campaigns using the correct Google Ads account, and you can access the project’s Google Ads workspace directly from Atoms.
Connect Google Ads to your Atoms project so Adrian can create and manage campaigns using the correct Google Ads account, and you can access the project’s Google Ads workspace directly from Atoms.
This guide walks you through the full setup process: opening the connector, authorizing the correct Google account, choosing the Google Ads client account you want to use, confirming the connection, and switching accounts safely when needed.
How the connection works
Connecting Google Ads has three main steps:
- Authorize your Google account. This gives Atoms permission to access the Google Ads accounts available to that account.
- Choose the Google Ads account to use. If your Google account can access multiple Ads accounts, select the Active Client Account you want this Atoms project to use.
- Confirm the connection. Return to the project’s Google Ads workspace and check that the correct account is connected.
Choose the client account carefully. This is the account Adrian will use to create and manage campaigns, and it is also where advertising costs will be charged.
The selected client is the Google Ads account this Atoms project uses for campaign work. Google authorization follows the signed-in identity's Google Ads permissions. Depending on Google's consent screen, the connection may request access to payments, subscriptions, products, and other Google Ads account operations in addition to campaign access. Review the complete scope shown by Google and continue only when it is expected for your project. Connecting the account does not create a campaign, approve a budget, start or pause ads, or change existing campaign delivery. Existing enabled campaigns can continue to run and spend until you verify or change them in Google Ads. Campaign creation and management happen separately through the Ads Agent workflow.
Before you start
Before connecting Google Ads, make sure that:
- You are the workspace owner, as only the owner can complete the connection.
- You can sign in to the Google account that has access to the Google Ads account you want to use.
- Your Google account has Standard or Admin access to that Ads account so Adrian can make campaign changes.
- If you use a Google Ads manager account, you know which Active Client Account you want the project to use.
- Your browser allows pop-up windows from Atoms and Google.
- Any current Agent task has finished before you start a new Ads Agent task.
Never paste Google passwords, verification codes, OAuth codes, client secrets, API keys, access tokens, billing information, or other credentials into Chat.
Connect Google Ads
Open the Google Ads connector
- Open the Atoms project that you want to connect.
- Open Settings → Connectors.
- Find Google Ads and select Connect. This starts Google authorization.
If Google Ads already shows the intended connected account, you do not need to connect it again. Continue to Check that the connection worked.
Selecting Create Ads under Marketing → Google Ads immediately starts Adrian, the Ads Specialist. Do not select it only to reach the connection settings.
Connect Google Ads from Settings
Authorize the Google identity
- In the Google window, sign in with the Google identity that has access to the intended Google Ads account.
- Check that you selected the correct identity before continuing.
- Review the access requested by Atoms. Continue only if you agree.
- Return to Atoms and wait for the available Google Ads accounts to load.
If the Google window does not open, allow pop-ups for Atoms and try Connect again. If the intended account is missing, check the Google identity and its Google Ads access before repeating authorization.
Select the Google Ads account to use
If your Google account can access multiple Google Ads accounts, choose the one you want Adrian to use for this project. If you use a Google Ads manager account, you must select a specific Active Client Account before the connection is complete.
- Wait for Atoms to show the Google Ads accounts available to your connected Google account.
- If an account list appears, find the client account you want to use.
- If you use a manager account, select the correct Active Client Account.
- Select Connect next to the manager account. In the confirmation window, check that the correct client account is shown, then select Connect again.
If you use a Google Ads account directly, Atoms may connect it without showing the manager-account selection steps.
If the account you want does not appear, check that it is active and that your connected Google account has Standard or Admin access. If several accounts have similar names, confirm the correct account before connecting.
If authorization fails, the intended account still does not appear after these checks, or the connection does not persist, contact Atoms Support or your workspace administrator. Include the workspace or project name, the Google account identity (a masked email or profile name), the manager or client name or ID if known, the failed stage, approximate time, visible error text, and a redacted screenshot. Never include passwords, OAuth codes, access tokens, billing details, or other credentials.
Check that the connection worked
- Return to Marketing → Google Ads.
- Confirm that the displayed account and client ID, when shown, match the client account you intended to connect.
- Confirm that the workspace no longer shows Connect your Google Ads account for advertising.
- If the connected empty state shows Adrian will create ads for you and Create ads, the Google Ads connection is complete. To start the Ads Agent workflow, switch the project to Team Mode and select Create ads.
A connected but empty workspace does not mean that a campaign has been created. To create, review, approve, and manage campaigns, follow Use the Ads Agent.

This image is illustrative and may not show your account or client ID. Your live workspace is the source of truth: verify the displayed Google Ads account and client ID there.
Switch the connected account safely
Use the route that matches what you need to change. Change Active Client Account when the new client belongs to the currently authorized manager account. Use Switch Account when you need a different Google identity or manager account. Either route can affect campaigns in the previous client, so review their status before and after the switch.
Switch to another client under the same manager account
- Open Settings → Connectors → Google Ads.
- Under Active Client Account, select the client that this Atoms project should use.
- Review the confirmation and check that it shows the intended new client.
- Review the complete list of active campaigns preselected for pausing.
- Deselect only campaigns that should remain active. Any campaign you deselect remains enabled and can continue spending.
- Continue only when the new client and every campaign action are correct.
- Return to Marketing → Google Ads and confirm that the new client account is displayed.
- Open the previous client directly in Google Ads and verify every campaign status. If a campaign is unexpectedly active, pause it in Google Ads before continuing.
Connect a different Google identity or manager account
- Open Settings → Connectors → Google Ads.
- Select Switch Account.
- Review the campaigns preselected for pausing. Deselect only campaigns that should remain active and continue spending.
- Continue when the campaign actions are correct.
- In the Google window, sign in with the replacement Google identity and complete authorization.
- Wait for the available accounts to load. If you use a manager account, choose the intended Active Client Account, select Connect, review the final confirmation, and select the final Connect.
- Return to Marketing → Google Ads and verify the newly connected client.
- Open the previous client directly in Google Ads and verify every campaign status. Pause any campaign that should not remain active.
After either type of switch, the previous client is no longer the active account shown in Atoms. Do not assume that its campaigns stopped. If Atoms reports that a campaign could not be paused, pause it directly in Google Ads or reconnect the previous account before relying on Atoms to manage it.
Open Switch Account for the connected Google Ads account
After the connection is working, Use the Ads Agent to prepare a campaign brief, review the real-cost warning, approve a paused campaign, set up conversion tracking, and manage campaign status.
