Access and permissions

Check workspace roles, invite or remove members, and resolve project access and permission issues.

Access in Atoms depends on the account you sign in with, the workspace containing the project, and your role in that workspace. A shared project link or a published app URL gives a different kind of access from workspace membership.

Use this guide to check your role, invite or remove workspace members, and find the next step when you cannot open a project or perform an action.

Check your workspace and role

  1. Sign in to Atoms with the account you use for the project.
  2. Select the workspace that contains the project. If you belong to more than one workspace, check the workspace name before continuing.
  3. Open Settings → People.
  4. Find the row marked (you) and check the Role and Status columns. You can also find the workspace Owner in this list.

In this guide, Owner and Editor mean the workspace roles shown in People. Check this role even if you created the project. “Collaborator” describes someone working with you; it is not an additional role to select.

If the workspace is missing, check which account you signed in with and whether you have joined through its invitation. If you still cannot find it, ask the workspace Owner to check your membership.

Understand the different kinds of access

Access type

What it means

Atoms account

Your sign-in identity. Receiving an invitation at one email address does not let you join using a different account.

Workspace membership

Lets you collaborate on workspace projects and share workspace credits. Your workspace role controls access to management actions.

Project access

Access to a particular project. Being able to open the project does not establish permission to change every setting, publish it, or manage its connected accounts.

Shared project link

Opens the project according to its sharing settings. Receiving or copying a link does not add someone to the workspace or give them an Owner or Editor role.

Published app

The site or app your users visit. Its sign-in and data-access rules are separate from Atoms workspace roles. An app user does not become a workspace member by signing in to the app.

To work on the original project with a teammate, ask the workspace Owner about membership. To let someone visit the finished app, use its published URL and the app’s own access settings.

Compare Owner and Editor permissions

The following table covers common controls with role-specific restrictions. “Yes” means the role allows the action; the workspace plan, available seats, resource state, and other requirements can still affect availability.

For project chat and files, publishing, domains, integrations, and billing, check the specific action and any restriction shown beside it. Do not assume that permission to view information also allows you to change settings, disconnect an account, or make a purchase.

If you need an Owner-only action, ask the Owner to perform it. If you need an ownership change or cannot reach the Owner, contact Atoms Support for the available options.

Invite someone to your workspace

Before you start: you must be the workspace Owner. Invite people who should collaborate on the workspace’s projects and share its credits.

  1. Open Settings → People in the intended workspace.
  2. Under Invite workspace members, enter the person’s email address in Add emails.
  3. Select Invite. New invitations use the Editor role.
  4. Check the person’s row. Invite sent means they have not joined yet; Active means they are a member.

If you see Upgrade to invite members, follow the plan prompt before inviting. If you see a member seat limit message, follow its instructions or contact Support. See Plans and credits for plan details.

Enter an email address in Add emails, then select Invite.

Enter an email address in Add emails, then select Invite.

Join from an invitation

Open the invitation link and sign in using the email address that received it. A successful invitation shows that you have joined the workspace and redirects you into Atoms.

  • Wrong Account: select Switch Account and sign in with the invited email address.
  • Invitation Expired: ask the workspace Owner to send a new invitation.
  • Invitation Not Found: the link may be invalid or revoked. Ask the Owner to check the invitation.

Check shared project access

Open the project’s Share dialog to check its visibility and Discover setting. The workspace Owner can change these controls. An Editor can copy the link, but copying it does not change the project’s access settings.

A public project can be accessed through its shared link. Discover controls whether it is listed in Discover; turning Discover off does not make a public link private. When you need to restrict access, review the project’s visibility as well.

Check the specific project before distributing its link. A workspace default is not a substitute for checking that project’s sharing settings. For the sharing workflow and available options, see Share a project.

Resolve an unavailable action

Start with the exact message shown beside the action. A missing or disabled control can have several causes.

What you see

What to do next

A workspace or project is missing

Check your signed-in account and selected workspace. Ask the Owner to verify that your membership is Active and that you are looking in the workspace containing the project.

A role or permission restriction

Check your role in People and the action’s message. Ask the Owner to perform a restricted action or help investigate the required access.

A shared page instead of your working project

Open the project from its workspace if you are a member. If you only received a shared link, ask the Owner about joining to collaborate.

An upgrade, seat limit, or balance message

Check the relevant plan or balance requirement with the Owner. Changing your role does not resolve a plan restriction or add credits.

Publish is unavailable

Check the permission message and whether the build has finished with a version ready to publish. A build or resource issue can prevent publishing even when you have permission.

An integration cannot connect or find a resource

Check both your Atoms access and the external account’s access to that resource. Follow the provider’s connection guide; for example, see Connect Google Analytics 4.

A Cloud database or secret control is unavailable

Check your role, the selected environment, and whether the table is read-only. For the detailed workflow, see Database or Keys and secrets.

A visitor cannot sign in to the published app

Check the app’s authentication setup and user access. Workspace membership is a separate issue. See Authentication.

Remove a member or cancel an invitation

The workspace Owner can remove another Editor or cancel a pending invitation from People.

  1. Open Settings → People and find the person’s row.
  2. Open the dropdown in the Role column and select Remove member.
  3. Check the person named in the confirmation and confirm removal.
  4. Check the refreshed list to confirm that the member or invitation is no longer listed.

Removing an active member takes away their access to workspace projects and resources through that membership. Removing a pending invitation revokes the invitation.

Review public sharing separately when ending someone’s access: removing membership does not make a public project private. Also review the published app’s own users and any external account access where relevant. These are separate access settings.

Get help with access

Contact the workspace Owner first for invitations, membership checks, and Owner-only actions. Contact Atoms Support if the Owner is unavailable, the controls do not match your role, or the problem continues after the checks above.

Include the workspace name, project link, action you tried, role shown in People, and exact error or restriction message. Add a screenshot with private details redacted. Do not include passwords, API keys, authorization tokens, or secret values.
